Elections for Year 2012-2013

Hello to all ENCS Students,

Are you a motivated engineering/cs undergraduate student? Make a difference in the student community by joining IEEE Concordia for the next academic year 2012-2013! If you are interested in electrical, computer and/or software engineering, want to gain more experience, have personal goals, join the team! Contribute to the engineering student and academic life. But most importantly, have fun and meet new people.

The elections will be held on Thursday May 10th at 17h00.

Here is a list of the positions available and the duties related to them:

President

The President shall preside at all meetings of the Branch. He/she shall appoint all committees, subject to the approval of the Executive Committee, and shall assume all other executive duties not otherwise delegated. One year experience as part of IEEE Concordia required unless no candidate runs for President.

Vice-President

The Vice-President shall assist in all functions of the Chairman and perform these functions in the latter's absence or at his/her request. One year experience as part of IEEE Concordia required unless no candidate runs for Vice-President.

VP Finance

The VP Finance shall receive all money and pay all debts of the Branch authorized by the Executive Committee, and shall keep an exact account of all receipts and expenditures.

Branch Secretary

The Branch Secretary shall keep a record of all activities of the Branch and shall report same to IEEE Headquarters, together with any special reports required by IEEE Headquarters, within a reasonable time after each meeting. The secretary shall carry on all other communications necessary to the activities of the Branch. The secretary shall set bi-weekly meetings, prepare the agenda and keep a record of the minutes and the names of members in attendance at the meetings.

VP Competition

The VP Competition shall handle communication with other organization such as parent association, school department, sponsors, companies and partners, etc. His mandate is to promote  

VP Project

The VP Project shall manage all projects and teams under the student branch.

VP Social

The VP Social shall handle event’s logistics such as date and time of an event, booking venues, invites guests and advertises the student branch and its events.

VP Marketing

The VP Marketing shall advertise the student branch’s events by producing posters, handling the newsletters and posting on relevant social networks. Photoshop skills and web experience required.

 

Robot Tutorial (Arduino Level 2)

Hey! You want to program your own robot using an Arduino? This is your chance.

Date: Thursday April 26th
Time: 2PM to 5PM
Price: 5$ at the door

We will be covering motor control, the theory behind the H-bridge, how to use a range sensor and how to code a state machine to have your robot avoid obstacle.

Note: It is recommended to have attended IEEE Concordia's Arduino Tutorial #1. Basic knowledge of the Arduino programming is required for this session.

Arduino Tutorial

 There will be ONE session (LIMITED spots per session).

MARCH 14TH
6PM-9PM (same tutorial)
ROOM: H-815

The tutorial will cover:
-Introduction to Arduino Language
-Digital Input/Output
-Analog Input/Output
-Basic Timer and Interrupt
-LEDs, Joystick and Speaker

The tickets cost $5 at the ECA office and 10$ at the door.
REMEMBER: Bring your own laptops! School computers do not have Arduino drivers.
