Want to work on an electronics or robotics project?

Want to try out some new circuit ideas or learn a new technology?

Or do you simply need to repeat a lab experiment and can’t use the teaching labs?

Come to IEEE Concordia’s electronics lab! It is open for use by any Concordia engineering student!

We offer three fully equipped electronics workbenches and several computer workstations for student use. The workbenches include electronics equipment like oscilloscopes and multimeters, hand tools like cutters and pliers, and a large stock of components like resistors, capacitors, transistors, microcontrollers, and various ICs (chips) for analog, digital or power applications that we can lend you for use in the lab.

Electronics Workbenches

Our electronics lab is equipped with 3 lab workbenches for students to work on electronics projects, both academic and personal. Each is equipped with a computer, a general-purpose assembly and measurement equipment for electronics, as well as a variety of tools and other materials. See below for more information.

Computer Workstations

Our lab is also equipped with several computer workstations, in addition to computers at workbenches. These computers allow students to develop software or firmware related to their projects, design circuits and PCBs, run simulations, consult reference materials, or do other work related to their lab activities.

All computers have a variety of software relevant to electronics design and software development. We can also install software on advance request, provided it is freely available to commercial users. We cannot install software which legally restricts the free version to personal or non-commercial users, and for liability and security reasons we cannot install or run software you provide yourself.

Electronic equipment

We have a variety of electronics assembly and measurement equipment available, including:

  • Digital multimeters: 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 digit
  • Oscilloscopes: 100 to 150MHz
  • DC supplies: 0–30V 3A + 1 programmable
  • Function generators: up to 25MHz w/ arbitrary waveform
  • RLC meter
  • Logic analyzer: USB + MSO
  • Soldering stations: temperature-controlled with various tips
  • Hot air reflow stations

Please contact us for more details.

Electronic components

We have a large variety of components available for various applications that are available for use in the lab only. If your project requires specialised parts, or you wish to keep your project, we can also help you select and order parts from major components suppliers.
